American-Palestinian Youth Released After Nine Months in Israel's Imprisonment

An Palestinian-American youth after completing a nine-month period in Israeli detention absent formal charges was released.

Mohammed Ibrahim had just turned 15 during his detention in February throughout the West Bank territory, while he was vacationing from his Florida home for allegedly throwing stones against settlement residents, allegations he repeatedly contested.

United States authorities said it welcomed the teenager's freedom.

Mohammed, now 16, needed medical care upon gaining freedom, relatives told the media.

They said he is pale, underweight, while battling health issues contracted in captivity.

Via family representatives, the youth's uncle conveyed their "overwhelming sense of relief".

The uncle, Zeyad Kadur said the family had been "living a horrific and endless nightmare" during the entire detention period.

"Currently, we're concentrating on ensuring Mohammed receives the immediate medical attention necessary for his recovery after being subjected to harsh conditions and inhumane conditions for months."

American authorities said it would continue to extend consular services to the teenager's relatives.

{"American leadership has no higher priority to the protection and welfare for United States citizens"," it added.

A group of American legislators submitted a formal letter to US authorities and the administration, urging greater action to release him.

Mohammed's parent, parent of four children managing a frozen treats business from Florida, previously claimed his son only confessed to throwing stones after being assaulted by soldiers.

He had not seen or spoken to Mohammed since the arrest, learning information solely what had happened to him through judicial records.

The teenager remained without charge within Ofer penitentiary throughout the occupied territory.

Additionally housing mature inmates, some of whom have been convicted regarding severe security violations and murder.

An estimated several hundred young Palestinian detainees currently imprisoned in Israel, according to the Israeli Prison Service.

Many have never been charged along with monitoring agencies, and international organizations, say some have suffered mistreatment and torture.

Following Mohammed's release, family representatives announced the family would also continue fighting for justice for his cousin their cousin Sayfollah.

This young American-Palestinian according to health authorities was beaten to death by Israeli settlers amid clashes last July.

Initially, defense forces stated authorities were looking into information regarding a civilian was deceased.

The two cousins were employed together at their family's ice cream business in Tampa, Florida.
